Make sure you get a chance to relax before the hectic holiday season hits!
Everybody had a fabulous time at our first ever Halloween Party. We ate creepy food (like jello with gummy eyeballs) and drank witch’s brew (punch), had a costume contest, and watched the classic movie “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” There was swimming in the indoor heated pool, dancing to the monster mash, and more candy then anyone could eat. We plan to do the same thing again next year, so make sure you’re part of the fun!
Thanksgiving Plans If you choose to stay at our resort during Thanksgiving weekend, you’re in for a real treat. Every year we have a colossal Thanksgiving dinner in our Mountain Village Center. (Last year we fed over 300 people.) The staff donates their time to cooking the turkeys and all the trimmings and everyone brings a dish to share. It’s just our way of showing how much we appreciate all of our guests. So if you want to join in this year, you’re more than welcome. Just make sure to book your reservation in time.
Winter Promotion December 1st we’re rolling back our rates to $21 a night! We get snow, but it usually doesn’t stick to the ground to interfere with driving. However, if you’d like to enjoy the snow, all you have to do is drive 20 minutes north into Franklin or Highlands. There’s snow tubing and ice skating at Scaly Mountain just up the road and Maggie Valley has great ski runs at Cataloochee less than 2 hours north! So if you’re hunting a good deal and a great location, you should stay at River Vista.
Lots for Sale Introducing our Ten ● Ten ● Ten program! 10% off the listed price, with 10% down for the first 10 lots sold. If you’re interested in purchasing a lot, please contact the office right away. They won’t last long!
Rally Groups
Thanks go out to the Peach State Travelers for having a rally with us this month.

Most everyone loves to come to the Great Smokies during autumn because of the beauty in the jewel toned setting. To see everything change from the green of summer to the torch colors of fall is a truly remarkable sight. The passion in the surrounding colors is contagious to your mood, making you just that much more excited and in high spirits. That’s why our resort is usually full for the entire month. Whether you want to climb to a mountain peak, find a hidden waterfall, or just sit back and relax in a rocking chair by the fire, the valley River Vista sits in is the perfect location to enjoy yourself. We still have a few sites open, so if you haven’t made your reservation yet, get to it!

Just to be clear, the owner of the resort has decided to sell lots in the rental section of the park. However, River Vista is not ever going to be a private ownership resort. We will still own and maintain about 30 lots strictly for rentals. That way, we can host to all of our rally groups and individual guests who like to stay with us. We enjoy having you around and wouldn’t change it for the world. Well, maybe for the world. ; )

Labor Day Weekend Recap River Vista was full for the holiday weekend. Kids had a nice break from school which their parents equally enjoyed. On Friday afternoon, our staff was running around getting everyone checked in and situated on their lots so the festivities could begin. That night, everyone congregated at the playground to watch “Hannah Montana: The Movie.” Saturday, the adults lounged by the pool while the youngsters made waves doing cannonballs into the deep end. Then the cookouts began as everyone geared up for the afternoon UGA football game. A lot of cheering and shouting came from the pool pavilion where guests flocked to watch the game on TV. Then later that night people either watched “Nancy Drew” on our inflatable screen, or the 1st ever night time Nascar race in Atlanta. Whatever they chose to do, everyone had a fun time. With a full day left to enjoy, Sunday was spent by most taking excursions rafting down the Chattooga River or on golf or shopping trips to neighboring towns. Fiddlin’ Mitch came by just after dinner and entertained us all by singing and playing both the banjo and fiddle (though not at the same time; that would be a sight!). And we ended the weekend with a DVD concert that everyone could enjoy: Fleetwood Mac. And then Monday rolled around all too soon. Time to roll up the awning, unhook, put everything away, and say good-bye. For everyone who was able to come: we’re glad you chose to spend your Labor Day weekend at our resort. For those who couldn’t make it: you missed out on a really good time. But don’t worry, there’s always next year. See you soon!
